Fibre Bragg Grating Inscription
Ultrafast laser inscription methods, spectral characterization, and fabrication of high performance gratings in optical fibre.
View projectI develop laser inscribed photonic devices and the precision systems used to fabricate them—from fibre Bragg gratings and nonlinear structures to motion control, machine vision, optical instrumentation and electronics.
My projects cover optical device fabrication, laboratory development, laser restoration, and precision automation.

I have been involved with FIRST Robotics in the Ottawa region since 2015 as a mentor, and alumni. More recently, referee, event organizer, and community volunteer. I currently serve as President of CU FIRST and Chair of the Ottawa Regional FIRST Steering Committee.
I reestablished CU FIRST as an accredited Carleton club in 2024. The group connects FIRST alumni and Carleton students with local teams to support them with mentoring, volunteer training, robot demonstrations, event support, and engineering outreach. My mentoring includes mechanical design, fabrication, programming, controls, project management, teamwork, and professional practice.
My team mentoring has included C4 Robotics, FRC Team 3543, my alumni team in Arnprior, and informally for Merge Robotics, FRC Team 2706.
In November 2025, CU FIRST and Carleton's Faculty of Engineering and Design delivered the Ottawa Regional FIRST Robotics Showcase in Richcraft Hall. More than 250 high school students took part in live robot demonstrations, robot driving activities, campus tours, and engineering outreach.
Current work includes official FRC Kickoff activities, a mobile 26 × 57 ft practice field for local teams, and planning for a FIRST Robotics Competition District Event at Carleton in 2028. The proposed district event would bring up to 32 high school teams to campus for a 3-Day high energy robotics competition.
